What can I do to lose weight and get in shape?
I am female, almost 20. Over the last 2 years, I have gained quite a bit of weight. I can barely fit into some of my clothes, and I have a lot that I just cannot wear anymore. For instance, I used to wear size 7 Wranglers jeans (women’s), and I can’t even get into 9′s anymore. Not sure about 11′s. I got a pair of size 12 Carhartt work pants (women’s) which fit well, slightly baggy.
Physically, I feel pretty healthy. I get adjusted by a chiropractor every other week, and I have rarely been sick. But I feel (and look) fat. I have a favorite pic that was taken March ’07 and I am much chunkier. I can’t even get those pants over my thighs…
Since May, I have been trying to eat less/more healthy and exercise more. My downfall is sweets. I am a chocolate addict, although admittedly, I do not eat too many sweets anymore. I will have a few chocolate chips or chocolate milk or a jr. Frosty at Wendy’s, etc. I’ve been really trying to cut back on junk in the past week. I try to eat salads with a small piece of breaded chicken…and try not to put too much dressing on it. I do eat a bit of fast food in a week, although BF and I are doing a lot more cooking at home, so it’s been only 2x a week. We eat a lot of meat (BF likes to grill) and not many vegetables. I don’t eat breakfast, but I am trying to eat an egg or whatnot. I sometimes have poptarts (healthy, I know, lol).
Right now, I am walking/biking 5-ish blocks to school and back M-Th. I also have horses and clean the paddock (scoop about 40lbs of manure and haul away) and wrestle a hay bale daily. Some days I bike a couple miles to the grocery store and back.
Despite trying to get more active and be better about eating, I feel like I’m just gaining more and more weight. What can I do? I have a little book of pilates and yoga which I want to start doing, but haven’t been motivated to try yet. I could also get a membership at Curves in the fall (Sep). Anyone have advice?
BTW, I do not have excess amounts of money to spend for gym membership or healthy granola bar things (sadly).

I’m on oxycontin.. I have Lupus and Fibromyalgia.. I’m still in horrid pain…?
I was diagnosed with Lupus(SLE) this year and Fibromyalgia a few years ago, but believe it all started after a bout of very serious(hospitalized because of spleen and liver) mono when I was 17yrs old. I have been on percocet 10/325 every 4-6 hour max 4 day for the last 4 YEARS.. recently it got switched to 20 mg of oxycontin twice a day with oxycontin IR 5mg also twice a day… problem is it’s still not working and I’m sitting here typing with tears running down my cheeks… I put a call into my doctor..no call back yet… It’s full body agony.. I can’t take this anymore…I don’t know how to tell my doc I need more meds or different, or something… I have tried yoga, nerve blocks, operations, therapy, etc… in the past few years… nothing works, I have three children who need me and all I want to do is curl up in a ball and die… I don’t know what to do anymore… Can anyone advise?
I was on prednisone for 11 yrs.. as a result I have osteopenia( swiss cheese for bones)
I just got a call from the nurse, not the nice one, even though the dr. said to call if it didn’t work so he could adjust the dose, she says he said he’s not changing anything and to call my rhematologist( who doesn’t want to be responsible for pain management) if that’s not ok with me…
Plus I did go to a pain clinic for 3 yrs, after many different treatments, nerve blocks, operations etc…, they tried to get new equipment for their office by saying I needed to have a certain operation( that I found out I didn’t need from 2 dr.s) so I stopped going there.. Primary doc( the one I tried calling) tried to get me into 3 separate pain clinics.. all have said they can’t do anything for my condition except meds, too advanced in disease too help, so they won’t take me. That’s why I get meds from primary now… and now no help is coming, who knows if she even talked to him..probably not

How many yoga blocks do I need for P90X?
Question by Christian C: How many yoga blocks do I need for P90X?
Do I need one or two? Do you need 2 because yoga blocks scratch/break and you need a backup, or because you can use 2 while exercising?

I tried to search the net for an answer as I have no personal knowledge. But I found nothing to give you the number you need. Let me share with you what I got though this is more an information useful to me.
“For people who don’t understand the value of Yoga X, it may – at first – to look like a waste of time to use one of your workout sessions each week to perform an activity that wouldn’t seem to build the kind of bodies that you see in the P90X infomercials. Nothing could be further from the truth!
The P90X Yoga X workout is not only worth every minute that you spend doing it, but if you skip it and deny yourself the active recovery that was discussed above, not only would you be missing the many benefits of yoga, but you would be setting yourself up for an injury as well.
As with all P90X workouts, always remember that P90X is a program that works because of the overall effect that the program provides, rather than just picking and choosing individual routines that you enjoy doing. P90X has 12 workout routines, and not only should you do them all, but you should do them all in the proper order as well.”
