The Origins of Yoga and Tantra: Indic Religions to the Thirteenth Century
The Origins of Yoga and Tantra: Indic Religions to the Thirteenth Century
Yoga, tantra and other forms of Asian meditation are practised in modernized forms throughout the world today, but most introductions to Hinduism or Buddhism tell only part of the story of how they developed. This book is an interpretation of the history of Indic religions up to around 1200 CE, with particular focus on the development of yogic and tantric traditions. It assesses how much we really know about this period, and asks what sense we can make of the evolution of yogic and tantric practices, which were to become such central and important features of the Indic religious scene. Its originality lies in seeking to understand these traditions in terms of the total social and religious context of South Asian society during this period, including the religious practices of the general population with their close engagement with family, gender, economic life and other pragmatic concerns.

Tantra Yoga Class 1 Part 7
Kundalini is the life force of the physical body and the subtle bodies. You cannot blink an eye, move a finger, walk, run or even think without the power of Kundalini. Kundalini is the vehicle of consciousness for the Soul of Man. It is the vital and mental life force within the body that manifests basic and higher consciousness. Kundalini is that Shakti power that was pushed down through the Brahmic line of Consciousness (Sushumna) and when it reached the equilibrium point of basic consciousness the Base of Spine Chakra it moved into this three and half energy configuration (call the Serpent Power, or Kundalini). At this point the Kundalini is in a dormant state in fact the word kundalini actually indicates that this serpent power is asleep. As I stated in the last write-up that over 98% of the power of Kundalini is dormant. It is said that the power of Kundalini is released in the body by a sound vibration released during by the dormant state of Kundalini itself while in this sleep state. This sound vibration pushes the power of kundalini throughout the subtle bodies and the physical body via the Nadis (which is over 200000 Nadi pathways). This sound vibration carries the kundalini consciousness throughout all the bodies manifesting itself in many forms and aspects such as; the vital life force, the mental life force, the vital life fluids (male and female sex fluids), of Ojas-subtle sex energies of the Brain, the physical spinal fluid etc. When we learn to control this …
